I started Geeked Out Sourdough for fun at first, but it has ignited my passion for baking more than I expected it to. I know nothing about starting a business, but maybe I’m meant to figure it out! My business license was approved on February 4th, 2025 – I’m a small business owner now!
Actually, baking really was my original passion in life; I’ve been making bread for about eight years, but I’ve been making cakes, cookies, pastries, etc. since I was young. I have recently started making jams, giving jars away with a loaf of sourdough for Christmas. Everyone loved it so much, it made me want to learn even more.
I live very happily in Sumner, WA with my very supportive boyfriend, Ryan, our taste tester roommate, Riley, his doggo, and four extremely needy cats. I work full-time in IT/tech as a business systems analyst and I’m also going to school full time for my Bachelors and Masters in IT. I don’t know why I’ve decided to add baking 16-20 loaves of bread a week to my schedule, but I tend to pout when I am not able to bake.
I named my business Geeked Out Sourdough because, after Ryan bought me the book “Tartine Bread” by Chad Robinson, I became a total nerd about starters, different hydration levels, inclusions, getting the perfect score, etc. I’m already a nerd/geek about most things in life that I love, so it seemed like the perfect moniker. Not to mention, I completely geek out about my bread when people ask about it!
